Sustainable Tourism

Namib Sky Balloon Safaris really cares about the environment. We strictly adhere to eco-friendly principles; create greater environmental awareness to both visitors and the local community.

Our environmental impact is kept to the bare minimum. The Namib Desert is very sensitive and we make sure while on safari that our team has the most eco- friendly behavior. All our retrieving vehicles only drive on existing tracks and before returning to the base we even sweep our footprints.

We constantly look for ways to reduce our footprint, our entire balloon base is powered by solar energy, and we ensure sustainable use of our water.

We started our own vegetable garden producing most herbs and assorted fresh greens. Self-sustainability and waste management are important to our community therefore all waste is sorted and transported to recycling companies in Windhoek.

Namib Sky Balloon Safaris created a trust to help the community in the Sossusvlei area and founded multiple community projects.

Recently, Namib Sky Balloon Safaris created a trust to help the community in the Sossusvlei area and founded “Little Bugs”, the first Early Childhood Development and Primary school in our area.
